Comments
With reference to the planning application referred to above, Hoe and Worthing Parish Meeting has considered the matter and wish to make the following comments.
- Our parish has examined all of the documents that can be viewed through the ‘link’ sent to us when we were notified of this application. All of those documents are dated 2019 and we are somewhat mystified that the reference number for the proposal is dated 2017. We have assumed that the 2019 documents are the only ones relevant to this matter and they clearly show, as would be expected with a retrospective application, a situation that has existed for some time. In those circumstances we do not have any objections
- Currently the rifle range is used for shooting air rifles of standard power and it appears to afford adequate protection to those using the adjacent site and passing by. We are very anxious however to ensure that there is no future move to use weapons of a different design or higher power and would ask that any consent is subject to an appropriate condition restricting future use.
- The application does not stipulate the hours it is proposed that the rifle range will be open but as the application is to provide a further facility to the existing nursery/shop/tea room known as ‘Corners Nursery’ we wonder if that is an indication the hours of business will be the same. For the removal of doubt we would request that an appropriate condition stipulates the permitted hours of operation.
As a general observation our parish has previously agreed it is in support of any local business venture, either already established or seeking to establish itself. At the same time however we are keen to ensure that local enterprise takes place in an environment that does not interfere with the safety and comfort of our parishioners and to that end we ask that the issues we have raised are taken into account when this matter is considered.
Yours sincerely
Trevor Wood
