Robert & Priscilla Barker

This photo is of Robert Barker in about 1901. In the census he is aged 66 and works as an agricultural labourer. He is in Ayers Lane, between Crossways and Flint House. He lived in the cottage nearest the lane when Flint House was two. In previous censuses the Barkers lived on the road running from Manor Farm towards Dereham, still known today as Barkers Lane. Robert was parish clerk for 30 years. The woman standing by the horse is his daughter Lucy, who married Frederick Butterfield. When she was tragically widowed with two young daughters she married Cyril Norton and lived at Spring Farm, visible in the distance.
