The owner of this Fowler traction engine was William Riches, agricultural contractor of  Swanton Morley. A similar photograph shows the same engine threshing at Spring Farm, Hoe. The man leaning on the front wheel here is Theophilus (Dick) Barker (b. 1876), son of Robert and Priscilla Barker. Robert was Parish Clerk of Hoe for thirty years.
