WORTHING NEWS – OCTOBER 2017

Norfolk Churches Trust / Bike, Stride, Car event on Saturday the 9th was a mixed bag in terms of weather.  One minute sunshine, the next rain however, as I was going around the various churches in our area, this did not deter anyone.  Numbers of visitors were also mixed.  Some churches received an increase in visitors from last year and some a reduced number.  Although a warm welcome was awaiting for those coming to Worthing, we did see a slight dip in numbers.  But we are always thankful and look forward to this event each year. Wherever our contenders and volunteers were based or visiting, it was still lovely to see our Norfolk Churches supported, so a huge thank you to everyone.

HAYTER – LAWN MOWER APPEAL £190 RAISED

In August an appeal was set up to replace our rather delapidated old lawn mower which unexpectantly refused to go any further!!! Hence an emergency appeal was sent out to raise £670 for this vital piece of equipment needed to maintain our church yard.  At the time of going to press you have raised £190 for which we are very grateful.  However, it’s not too late for those that have overlooked this appeal and still want to donate and boost this figure.

Alternatively, if it is preferred that a Worthing resident or any supporter of St Margaret’s wish to make a donation on a regular basis, please contact Celia on 01362 668928 / email: c.daniel784@btinternet.com to discuss and where the appropriate bank mandate form may be obtained.

August & Seimage001ptember are (depending on the weather) extremely busy times for our farmers and growers.  And on Sunday the 8th October at Worthing Church we will be celebrating our annual Harvest Praise Service at 9.30am.  So we hope you will come and join us and perhaps bring along some produce, packages or tins for the Harvest Table.  All donations will then be delivered after the service to our local Salvation Army in Dereham for their food bank which helps those in need.  Our offertory collection will once again be donated to WaterAid.
And finally, dare I say this, CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

We like to help aimage002nd support Children from around the world who are in desperate need.  With your support we hope to be sending out again Christmas Boxes via “SAMARITANS PURSE.” These gestures bring joy to children and know they are remembered and loved…  In 2016 Worthing sent out 18 shoeboxes which is a great result.  To get involved and for details please contact:

Celia Daniel tel: 01362 668928 or email:c.daniel784@btinternet.com

Deadline for getting these boxes to Celia for despatch is 1ST NOVEMBER 2017.
